Religious Sister Counsellors Network Initiative (RSCN) is a counselling hub in Uganda funded by the Hilton Foundation. Established in January 2023 by the All Africa Conference: Sister to Sister (AAC:SS) in collaboration with the Association of Religious in Uganda (ARU), the initiative serves both religious communities and the wider public.
RSCN builds on the AAC:SS Counselling Training Project that began in 2007 to educate women religious in counselling psychology and mental health counselling. Sisters who earned degrees in these fields now practice as professional counsellors in schools, hospitals, pastoral settings, counselling centres, and within their congregations.
Today, RSCN has grown into a strong cross-border network of professional sister counsellors. It:
Provides accessible counselling resources to religious and communities in the sub-Saharan region
Offers ongoing professional training to its members
Encourages collaborative initiatives to support people who cannot afford critical counselling services
The network currently engages at least 130 sister counsellors. Each counsellor reaches an average of 100 people through their work in schools, hospitals, counselling centres, and pastoral ministries. The Hub also acts as a learning point for sisters seeking to establish other satellite centres.
